B/W&C show at Gallery 414

The opening of the B/W&C show at Gallery 414, on Fort Worth’s near West-side draws near!

The show will include recent work by painter Ron Crouch and photographers Leo Wesson and Kipp Baker.

Opening reception is 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on October 22, 2016.

Gallery 414 is an alternative, non-commercial art space showing a mixture of talented artists both known and new to Fort Worth art patrons and is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 until 5:00 and by appointment.

Gallery 414 presents B/W&C : Paintings and Photographs, a group exhibition featuring  local artists Kipp Baker, Ron Crouch and Leo Wesson. B/W&C Paintings and Photographs opens Saturday, October 22, with a reception for the artists from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

B/W&C refers to the artists’ last names, but is also evocative of photography and works derived from photography. The three artists vary in aesthetic interests, yet share a fascination with photography’s influence on how we view our world.

Ron Crouch paints scenes of modern life, using a fluid brush that transforms mundane snapshots into tightly scripted, open-ended narratives. “I see my work as being like loose pages out of a book where the viewer finishes the story,” he says. “I don’t have a set way I want the story to be completed. In fact, if the story has only one ending, it hardly seems worth looking at a second time.” (www.ralphart.com)

Leo Wesson has worked as a professional photographer for over 35 years and is “in love with light.” His prints celebrate life by sharing an unsentimental yet beautifully crafted view of the world, with lush images that capture everyday events and occasions at the precise moment when the peculiar and familiar intersect. Kipp Baker explores the phenomena of the “corrupted image” – a modern artifact that takes place when a video feed is compromised, causing the image to break up into a mosaic-like blend of pixelated motion and time. Both familiar and disconcerting, Baker’s work reminds that what we observe is only a simulacra of real life. (www.kippbaker.com)
